Things you need to know

Web Design

What platform do you build your websites on?

We build all of our websites on either Squarespace or Shopify.

Will I be able to update the website myself?

Yes, this is why we build using Squarepace & Shopify. Our web packages include a one hour customised training video, so most clients are more than capable of updating and adding website pages as needed. If, after launch, you need help updating your site you are more than welcome to commission us for specific work on your website.

Can I see the design before the website is built?

Absolutely, the web design process starts with a research of the style you like and a discussion of features needed. After this, we create a sitemap plan this gives you an outline of how the site bones will look. This isn’t set in stone but gives us both an agreed starting point to build your website from. Once you are happy with the sitemap plan we start building the website homepage, where you can see if the look and feel is right for you and your brand.


The Design Process

How does the process begin?

Project Application
After you contact us regarding your idea or project you’ll be required to fill out an onine brief, we’ll ask you about your business, your brand, your target market, the project and, finally, about you. As well as make sure we are a good fit for each other!

Quote
After filling your brief, we create a cost breakdown (Quote). This document also includes the Terms & Conditions, so you can have a clear idea about the whole process.

Approval
Once the Terms & Conditons and Quote are accepted you will be given a spot in our production timeline. Then, the fun begins!

Can I make changes?

Yes, we give you three rounds of revisions and changes on all of our projects, these changes will be adjustments to our design proofs and not completely new designs.

How long does it take?

Turnaround time varies depending on the type and size of each project, and when your allocated timeline is booked in. However, standard timeframes for delivery are:

  • Logo Refresh Packages: 1-2 weeks
  • Branding Packages: 2-4 weeks
  • Document Design: 1-2 weeks
  • Web Design: 3-5 weeks

Production Stage

How will I receive the finished designs?

Once we have received the final payments, we will supply a full set of files including original artwork if requested. For print jobs we also supply the High Resolution PDF, which can be taken to the printer of your choice.

Will I be able to edit/update my files?

Unless you have the Adobe Softwares installed on your computer you won’t be able to open the original artworks and make changes. We provide you with the original artworks because of our ownership policy, but if you need updates and alterations you can come back to us or work with another designer of your choice.


Payments & Ownership

How much do you charge?

When you ask for a quote from us we will give you a fixed price based on your project, this way you will know from the beginning how much a project is going to cost you without any surprises.

Do you required deposits to start?

Yes, a 50% deposit is required for all Design and Website Development exceeding AUD$1,000. After you approved our Terms & Conditions and Quote we invoice you 50% of the total amount of the project. We do not start the design process until this deposit has been done. This deposit is not refundable.

Copyright and ownership will depend on the type of project. However for all Branding and Websites Designs created specifically for your brand, we release full Ownership to you as soon as all payment has been made. Dawn Design Studio has the rights to use any artwork, graphics and completed projects created by Dawn Design Studio for self promotion unless otherwise agreed to in writing.
